New Zealand unified communications player interoperable with Cisco's UC manager

Auckland-based unified communications software developer Zeacom, which signalled its plans to list recently, has gained interoperability verification certification from US networking giant Cisco Systems.

Zeacom's solution can now be listed on the Cisco Technology Developer Programme.

"Console 4.1 has completed and passed the Product Compatibility Testing process at Cisco's testing laboratories in the US and has achieved Technology Developer Affiliate status," a Cisco statement released yesterday says.

"Hundreds of customers have been leveraging our complete UC suite for years. This integration with Cisco's Unified Communications Manager adds to the flexibility and effectiveness of our solution for the SMB market," Zeacom President Ernie Wallerstein says in the statement.

In August, Zeacom advertised for a marketing communications manager to act as “the public face of the company when it goes to float”.

Chief executive Miles Valentine told Computerworld the float plans were in their early stages but are “pretty serious” and the company was actively talking to market commentators and sharebrokers.

The unified communications market ignited this year with major companies such as Cisco, Microsoft and Nortel all outlining ambitious strategies to deliver systems that unite email, mobile, landline and other communications platforms such as instant messaging into a single interface.
