WebMedia and E-Loan were both double winners at the 2000 Interactive New Zealand Awards last week.

WebMedia and E-Loan were both double winners at the 2000 Interactive New Zealand Awards last week.

The Auckland-based WebMedia took out the overall Silicon Graphics Craft Award, selected from all the finalists, for Wm3, the site it built for itself largely as a means of attracting and recruiting top developers.

The judges said the site was already internationally known and that the company was leading the world in linking Macromedia Flash to database applications.

They said Wm3's use of Flash, a web design software package, raised the bar for other designers by linking the technology to database applications, a world first. WebMedia also took the Learning Media Art/Experimental Award.

E-Loan, whose site was built here, based on code from other E-Loan franchises, won both the Business to Consumer category and the Information/Reference category.

Chief judge of the Awards, Tuanz Board Member Reg Russ said the E-Loan site set a benchmark as a superior online product.

"We felt that the E-LOAN site would fundamentally change the way New Zealanders make their most significant investments. The E-LOAN site really stood out from other entrants - it is comprehensive, simple, versatile and will catch on quickly with consumers."

INZ and awards sponsor ANZ Bank will be taking the winners – chosen from 130 entries and 36 finalists – around the country as part of a roadshow.
