Business ISP DTS only New Zealand organisation to pick up an award

An ISP that caters for business customers was the only New Zealand winner in the trans-Tasman Internet Awards, the ANZIAs, announced in Melbourne yesterday evening.
DTS, which began in New Zealand in 2001 and expanded to Australia in 2007 was named the winner in the iPv6 catergory of the Internet Awards organised by InternetNZ and auDA (the .au domain administrator). New Zealand organisations that were highly commended were Victoria University of Wellington, Deaf Studies Research Unit in the Diversity category, Aura RedEye Security in the Security and Privacy category and NZ Department of Internal Affairs, Beek and PaperKut Paperless Receipts in the Innovation category.
A media release announcing the awards, which are now in their third year, says the awards are designed to “celebrate exceptional contributions by businesses, organisations and individuals to the development and use of the internet in Australia and New Zealand.”
InternetNZ Chief Executive Vikram Kumar says that participation in the awards has increased. “This year’s awards attracted twice the number of entries received in 2010. We received many excellent contributions from both New Zealand and Australia and we are very pleased to be able to celebrate their achievements through the ANZIAs.”
