Decision on whether Vodafone can buy TelstraClear pushed back a week
By Computerworld staff | Auckland | Tuesday, 23 October, 2012 | 4 Comments
The Commerce Commission has for the second time delayed its ruling on whether to allow Vodafone to buy TelstraClear.
A decision on whether to allow the sale had been due to be announced today, however it has now been pushed back a week to October 30.
In July Vodafone announced its intention to buy TelstraClear from telco Telstra for $840 million. The Commerce Commission was originally to have ruled on whether to allow the decision on September 7.

The upside
Of course the upside will be the departure of Telstra's CEO. It cannot come soon enough.

It will be a duopoly. The evidence is compelling; we have some of the highest cellular charges in the world with a duopoly set up. We have some of the highest roaming charges in the western world - duopoly. We have massive international internet charges -Southern Cross Duopoly.
Rural NZ has been saddled with 5 megs peak for RBI with a monopoly bid with our two favourite trust worthy providers. Why on earth would anyone expect anything else other than profit maximisation?
