Equinox launches test capability training service

Government web services panel supplier introduces a service to assess and build test capability

On the back of its appointment as a panel supplier for testing services for the government web services initiative, Equinox has launched a new service to assess and build test capability.

“It’s a half-day course targeted at programme managers, project managers, solution architects and test managers,” says Neil Gray, Equinox IT performance intelligences practice director.

He claims Equinox is the only company in New Zealand offering the test capability training service.

“We’ve been performance testing complex systems for more than 15 years, and we’ve learned the hard lessons on what works and what doesn’t,” he says. “Performance testing that is delivered under time pressure at the end of the project, focusing only on end-user response times is expensive and often fails. So, we help customers to broaden their performance considerations to reduce performance risk. This has a profound effect on the successful delivery of well-performing systems.

“It’s about managing performance risk, not necessarily about testing.”

The common web services initiative, will allow government agencies to engage with an approved list of 42 providers.

Internal Affairs Minister Chris Tremain says the new procurement arrangement for web services will streamline tender processes for government agencies.

The Department of Internal Affairs is also in the process of procuring a single web platform for agencies to use.
