Housing New Zealand was among the customers SAS signed up last year, in which the analytics vendor's new software revenue increased 22 per cent in Australia and New Zealand, a significantly higher figure than the global average.
SAS today released its global results for the 2010 financial year, posting $US2.43 billion in revenue, up 5.2 per cent on last year.
Business analytics was a particularly strong performer for the vendor, recording a 26 percent revenue rise. SAS provides analytics for many other sectors, including education, energy and utilities, financial services, government, healthcare and life sciences.
Customer wins in Australia included Telstra and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
In a statement announcing the results, SAS chief executive Jim Goodnight attributes the growth to "the recognition that the current explosion of data can be analysed to provide insights never before possible."
The Americas accounted for 46 per cent of total revenue; Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) 42 per cent; and Asia Pacific 12 per cent.
