Telecom and Gen-i to resell Polycom video service
But Gen-i says it remains committed to Cisco

Telecom and Gen-i are to use Polycom’s RealPresence video networking platform to deliver video-as-a-service (VaaS) to business clients.
A source hints there is already at least one client signed up, but no further detail is available.
However, Gen-i says this does not mean it is moving away from Cisco’s TelePresence, which it has been offering for some years. “Gen-i remains committed to Cisco as a key strategic partner for the delivery of collaboration solutions,” says David Crown, manager of strategic partnerships.
“Gen-i’s selection of Polycom’s RealPresence Platform provides an endpoint agnostic carrier grade video bridge with a seamless transition for our existing clients, including those currently using Cisco technology,” Crown says. “We believe it will enhance Gen-i’s ability to create a seamless experience for our clients across both Cisco and Polycom bridge options.”
“Gen-i is currently preparing to bring a range of VaaS offerings to market, the first of which is due to launch in November,” he says.
