Pictures: 'Blackout' demonstrators gather at Parliament
Petition handed over in opposition to Section 92a

Opponents of New Zealand's new copyright law gathered on the steps of Parliament today and handed over a petition to United Future leader Peter Dunne.
Many carried black placards, referencing the social media "blackout" protest that has seen users of online media sites replace their own images with a black square.

The Creative Freedom Foundation, which was formed in opposition to what it describes as the "guilt upon accusation" law,
called the demonstration
.
Section 92a of the Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act is the focus of the protests. It requires ISPs to have and reasonably implement a policy to disconnect customers who repeatedly violate copyright online.
