Two budding game developers will have their first year of study at Media Design School New Zealand’s (MDSNZ) two
new game development programmes paid through a scholarship funded by Wellington-based game studio Sidhe and mobile games publisher PikPok.
Harrison Thrupp and Christopher Howlett will each recieve $2300 towards their first year of study at MDSNZ, as well as the opportunity to take up an internship at Sidhe and PikPok.
The students are currently enrolled in MDSNZ’s Diploma of Interactive Gaming, and selected for the scholarship based on their “commitment, potential, and enthusiasm for the industry”.
“Video games have always been my passion and I would love to have a career developing computer games,” says Howlett.
“I have always wanted to be behind the scenes of one of these big games that everyone is waiting to come out such as
Call Of Duty, Gears of War or
Halo,” says Thrupp.
Mario Wynands, managing director of Sidhe and PikPok, says similar initiatives will help towards developing the next generation of New Zealand game developers.
